Layer editor

What it is

A finished card is a flat image: you can't just select the text on it and retype it. The layer editor takes the image apart: it recognises the text and fonts, separates the product, plates and icons, and restores the background under them. The result is a layered document where you can retype a line again, or move and recolour a plate.

The main way to change a card is still to describe the change in words (see Refine with Text): the AI redraws the image. The editor is for precise manual fixes: change a number, fix a typo, replace a headline, pick a font or a colour — and leave everything else untouched.

The editor is in beta: its button carries a beta tag. During the beta some of its controls are labelled in Russian only.

Where to open it

The "Edit as layers" button is:

If the photo already has a design, the button reads "Continue design" — it opens the saved design, so the image doesn't need to be split again.

You can open any photo of your product in Sozdai: a card made in Sozdai or an uploaded photo. For a card made elsewhere, upload it to the product as a photo — or add the product from WB or Ozon by link: its photos, old cards included, become product photos. There is no separate upload into the editor without a product.

Supported: PNG, JPEG and WebP up to 20 MB, up to 12 megapixels and no more than 6000 px on the long side.

The editor is built for a computer: on a phone the button is visible, but the editor is only comfortable on a large screen.

Splitting the image

After the click, splitting starts. The screen shows what is happening:

  1. "Recognizing text…"
  2. "Matching fonts and text layout…"
  3. "Reconstructing the background…"
  4. "Extracting graphic elements…"
  5. "Building the editable document…"

It usually takes a few minutes. When many images are being split, yours waits in a queue — the screen says "Waiting for the processor…".

You don't have to watch: "You can return to your photos while processing continues. Open this photo again to return to the result." The "Back to photos" button takes you back.

If the image can't be split, you'll see "Could not decompose this image. The original photo is preserved." and a "Retry decomposition" button. The editor never changes the original photo.

What becomes a layer

On the cardIn the editor
Headlines, specs, captionsLive text in a matched font — you can retype it
BackgroundA background layer, restored under the text and objects. It's locked by default so you don't move it by accident
Simple plates and badgesShapes: change their colour and size
The product with its shadowThe "Product and shadow" group
IconsSeparate elements

The font field shows the name of a catalogue font, or a matched font built to look like the original lettering. It is close to the original but may differ.

Not everything becomes editable. Lettering that couldn't be recognised stays an image: you can move and scale it, but not retype it. A product with a complex shape may stay part of the background. The editor warns about this itself: "Experimental decomposition: check text and layer boundaries. Complex products may remain in the background image."

What you can change

Text. Double-click a line to retype it. Above the page are the font (a searchable catalogue with bold and italic styles), size, colour, alignment and spacing: line, letter and word spacing. "Effects" — "Outline", "Shadow" and "Text background", which can be combined. The "Text" panel adds new lettering: "Add a text box" or "Add a heading".

Any layer. Move, resize, rotate, change opacity. Duplicate, delete, group, lock, hide, rename. "Arrange and Layers" opens the layer list: drag to reorder, or drop a layer onto the centre of another to group them. The same panel aligns several elements and spaces them evenly. Snapping pulls elements to edges and centres; holding Alt turns it off for a moment.

Images. "Replace image", crop, flip horizontally or vertically, and "Adjust" — brightness, contrast and saturation. The "Uploads" panel adds your own image: PNG, JPG or WebP up to 20 MB.

"Elements" — searchable icons, badges and shapes. You can change their colour, outline and size.

Brush and eraser — paint in or erase part of an image by hand.

Separating an object. If something stayed part of the background, select it — it becomes its own layer, and the spot it leaves is filled with background. Choose what to separate (automatic, text or object) and how to select it (a click, a box or a lasso), then refine the selection with an add or remove brush. Separated lettering becomes editable text.

Pages. One design can have several pages: add, duplicate, delete, reorder by dragging. With nothing selected, the toolbar shows the page size and "Page color".

Undo and redo are Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Shift+Z. The design saves itself — the top bar shows "Saved". If the same design is open in two tabs and the edits diverge, you'll see "Version conflict" and a "Save a copy" button.

Download

The "Download" button at the top: file type PNG or JPG, export size 1× or 2×. For PNG you can turn on a transparent background. If you tick several pages, they download as a ZIP archive.

Important: the edited image does not go into the product's photos by itself. The design is saved and you can come back to it, but you download the finished file and upload it to the marketplace (or to the product) yourself.

Saved designs

All of a product's designs are in the "Designs" section on the product page. The "Projects" page has "Other designs" — saved designs without a product. Click a design to continue editing.

Price and limits

Free. The editor doesn't charge 💎 — not for splitting, not for edits, not for downloads.

To keep the beta running for everyone, splitting has a daily limit — currently about 25 a day. Separating an object uses a little of the same limit. The limit resets once a day, at 00:00 UTC. Reopening the same photo doesn't use the limit: you go straight to the finished result.

Watermark

Until you've paid for anything, cards made in Sozdai open in the editor with the sozdai.app watermark — and it stays in the downloaded file. Photos you uploaded yourself have no watermark. The watermark disappears after your first payment (see Credits).
